Mobile Phones in Tel Aviv

As a student studying at NYU Tel Aviv this spring, you will be required to have a mobile phone for the duration of the program. You will be provided with a mobile phone to use for the semester, and approximately $25 USD in phone credit, at no additional cost. To plan accordingly, please fill out this form ASAP so that we are able to have your phone ready for you upon your arrival. Please complete it no later than Friday, January 6, 2017.

As you know, your health and safety is an enormous priority for the University. Not only will this program help us to contact you in case of an emergency, but it will give you the ability to call or text local site staff in the unlikely event you encounter a difficult situation.

Although we are providing the first approximately $25 USD in service, we will expect you to keep enough credit on your phone so that you can call out in case of an emergency. Even if you run out of credit, we will still ask you to keep your phone with you, as you will still be able to receive short incoming calls and text messages.

The phones you receive will be very basic – in other words, don’t expect them to do anything beyond phone calls and text messaging. However, if you have an unlocked phone that you would prefer to use while you are studying away, you’ll still be able to use your approximately $25 USD in credit (and SIM card) on that device instead. You will be able to coordinate this with your site’s staff during orientation.

At the end of the semester, you will be expected to return your SIM card, phone, charger, and any other accessories that may be provided.

Again, please don’t forget to fill out the form, and if you have any questions, please contact me.
